The 2021 JPR is July 10!

This JPR  is a friendly, trail ride competition that is approximately 6 miles over shady terrain which may include pastures, streams, woods and a small section of gravel road.  While you ride the trail, there will be 10 judged obstacles along the way.  Horses and riders will be judged on their ability to safely and efficiently negotiate the various obstacles as instructed.  While this is not a timed event, there will be a time limit on each obstacle to prevent delays.   The objective for this event is for every participant to have fun!  After all…this is a pleasure ride.  Our goal is for everyone to enjoy the trail ride.  Please note that this event is part of the Crystal Crown Series.   The results will be counted towards Crystal Crown Series year-end awards.

We are in the planning stages of TSRC’s leg of 2021 Crystal Crown Judged Pleasure Ride Series.  Event volunteers will be able to ride the course free of charge on Sunday July 11th.  Currently, we are in need of coordinators for REGISTRATION, PUBLICITY, OBSTACLE DESIGN, TRAIL DESIGN.  These committees need to get active now.  We would like to get at least two people to work on each of these. So grab a friend, join the fun, and lend a hand! We have resources to support you if you haven’t done this before. This is an “all-hands on deck” effort and a fun opportunity to meet fellow members and equestrians.

What to know:

  • Date:  July 10, 2021
  • Where:  Camp High Road, 21164 Steptoe Hill Road, Middleburg, VA.
  • Fee: $45 for adults | $35 for youth | Rain or Shine event – No refunds.
  • Health & Safety: Obstacles are designed to promote social distancing and will limit rider contact.
  • About: Tri-State’s  JPR is a Crystal Crown Series event

We are looking forward to seeing our regular JPR friends and ask that you invite newbies to try this friendly trail/obstacle competition.

Riders will be awarded 0-10 points per obstacle.  Rider/horse will receive 1 point for an attempt, only if the horse “engages” the obstacle.  A flat-out refusal may warrant a zero and is at the discretion of the Judge(s).  Points will be deducted for exceeding said set limit(s) and for “coaching”, either receiving or giving.  Judges will be instructed on how to deduct points for the aforementioned scenarios and others such as incorrect execution, break in gait, significant tension, with the goal of consistently scoring all participants.  Riders will receive their score upon completing each obstacle.  The decision of the site Judge(s) is FINAL and is not to be disputed.
