Lovettsville Trail Ride in the Park

Sunday, October 16, 2011, Lovettsville, VA – members of the public will be invited to bring their
horses and ride at the Lovettsville Community Park. Since the park is not currently open to the
public, this trail ride will provide a unique opportunity to see the park property firsthand. This
event furthers ongoing efforts towards supporting construction of the equestrian facilities.

Three organizations — the Loudoun Horse Association, the United States Trail Ride, Inc., and the
Tri-State Riding Club — are combining resources to put on a fun event with a twofold purpose:
(1) to show the location of trails and facilities planned for the park once it is developed, and (2)
give the riders a look at the park’s future equestrian area. The 3 equestrian organizations will
donate all of the net proceeds from the ride to a special Parks & Recreation fund earmarked for
the park’s public equestrian facilities.

The ride itself will be designed as a BINGO RIDE. Each rider will receive Bingo cards upon
registering for the ride and will pick up Bingo markers at manned stations along the trail. Riders
will match up their markers and Bingo cards when they come in. Every participant will receive a
prize. “Bingo” winners will receive special prizes and all riders will be eligible for the Grand
Prize drawing at the end of the ride. Registration is $25 if received by October 7, 2011. After
October 8th mailed-in and day-of-ride registration will be $35 per rider. Junior riders may
participate if accompanied by an adult rider for the same fee as adult riders. Beautiful weather
is expected on October 16, but just in case, the rain date is Sunday, October 23.
Trailer parking will be in the field on the south side of Milltown Road, Lovettsville, just east of
the intersection with Lovettsville Road. The entrance to the Park is clearly identifiable by board
fencing off the road. The Registration Table will be in this area.

The Registration table will be open from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Day of ride registrations will
be accepted. Ride out may occur at any time between 12:00 and 1:30 p.m. This will be a 1 to
1½ hour walk/trot ride, rider’s choice except in designated walk-only areas for safety. All riders
must return by 3:30 p.m. A copy of each horse’s current negative Coggins report, a signed
liability waiver form and an approved helmet are required for all riders. Riders will be asked to
show their Coggins report upon arrival and carry it during the ride.
